Which companies are the big four transaction services and what do they do?

The Big 4 Accounting Firms each have a transaction services division

  1. EY
    Their group is called EY – Transaction Advisory Services and they provide services under the following pillars:

  2. PwC
    Their group is called PwC Deals and the provide services under the following pillars:

  3. Deloitte
    Their group is called M&A Transaction Services and seems to be largely based out of Australia. They provide services under the following pillars:

    • Acquisition/pre-lending due diligence
    • Vendor due diligence
    • Vendor assistance services
    • Sale and purchase agreements
    • Capital market transactions
    • M&A tax and structuring advice
  4. KPMG
    Their group is under Deal Advisory and is called Transaction Services. They haven’t published a lot of detail around areas of focus/work.


It is important to note that other firms like McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, Alix Partners, Alvarez and Marsal, West Monroe Partners, and many others also provide “transaction advisory services”. Bain, in particular, is rumored to align the incentives of their Partners with the PE funds that they assist.

As you must have understood, a lot of advisory firms provide a wide range of services in this arena.
